LOT 7 — Advisory & Specialised Support
BritiAI response — NHS SBS Healthcare AI Solutions Open Framework (SBS10523)
Award criteria: Quality 70% / Commercial 20% / Social Value 10%. The 20% commercial weighting means the BritiAI rate card must defend itself against Big-4 consulting (more expensive, slide-led) and boutique AI specialists (often cheaper, narrow). BritiAI’s position is a mid-market premium price defended by an embedded operating model and a published outcome.
7.1 Why BritiAI wins Lot 7
The standard NHS AI advisory engagement delivers a strategy deck, a stage-gate plan, and a goodbye. Trusts then discover that the gap between strategy and execution is precisely where the work — and the clinical, technical and reputational risk — actually lives.
BritiAI closes that gap by offering embedded operating partnership, not consultancy days. Our flagship Lot 7 service is the Fractional Chief AI Officer — a senior AI leader, embedded one to three days a week inside the Trust’s executive team, accountable to the Trust Board for the Trust’s AI portfolio, signing the Clinical Safety Cases, attending the Digital Committee, briefing the Non-Executives. This is designed for Trusts that need leadership before they need licences, and Integrated Care Boards co-ordinating AI strategy across multiple Trusts that need a single accountable senior partner.
The model is BritiAI’s operating norm. We run a fractional executive bench across CAIO, CTO and COO disciplines, with a documented track record of embedded delivery in financial services and public sector. We are not learning the model on NHS time.
7.2 Service catalogue
AI Readiness Programme — 12-week embedded engagement. A board-level engagement covering DTAC v2 gap analysis, use-case prioritisation against the Trust’s strategic objectives, data architecture review, Clinical Safety governance set-up, executive coaching for the SRO and CCIO, and a structured board reporting cadence. Outputs: a board-approved AI strategy, a 12-month deployment roadmap mapped against the framework’s other lots, and a named BritiAI operating partner relationship to take the Trust into deployment. Fixed price. Typical engagement: one Principal lead, one Senior Consultant, one Analyst, supported by a Fractional Executive sponsor.
Fractional Chief AI Officer. Senior AI leader embedded one to three days a week, typically engaged 6–18 months. Accountable to the Trust Chief Executive or Chief Medical Officer for the Trust’s AI portfolio. Signs the Clinical Safety Cases under the Trust’s DCB0160 process. Attends the Trust Digital Committee and reports to the Board. Carries the Trust’s relationship with NHS England’s AI knowledge repository and with the Trust’s regional AI networks. Worked example: a 250-bed Foundation Trust engages a Fractional CAIO two days a week for 12 months at the Fractional Executive day rate. Total fee envelope: ~£212k. Comparison: a Big-4 transformation programme with equivalent scope is routinely quoted at £750k–£1.2m with no in-seat accountability beyond the engagement end-date.
Procurement & Vendor Assurance. Independent technical and clinical-safety assurance for Trusts evaluating third-party AI vendors, whether under this framework or others. Output: a written assurance report covering DCB0129 posture, data residency, sub-processor flow-down, model evaluation methodology, and a recommendation. Designed for Trusts whose digital function is being asked to opine on vendors at a pace that exceeds their internal assurance capacity. Worked example: a Trust evaluating three ambient-documentation vendors retains a BritiAI Senior Consultant for ten days to produce a comparative assurance report. Total fee: £9,500.
Workforce Enablement. Role-based AI literacy training delivered against four tiers: Board Non-Executives, executive directors, clinical leadership (Clinical Directors, Lead Nurses, AHP leads), and frontline clinical and operational staff. Curriculum aligned to NHS England’s AI knowledge repository and to the emerging AI competency frameworks from the Faculty of Clinical Informatics. Delivered in person, virtually or hybrid.
Implementation Pods. Mixed BritiAI and Trust staff delivery teams for specific AI deployments — typically the Lot 5 and Lot 6 productised solutions. Sprint-based, with a named BritiAI on-site lead, daily stand-up with the Trust SRO, twice-weekly executive read-out. Worked example: a Trust deploying Scribe-On-Site across a Medicine directorate retains a 4-person BritiAI pod (1 Principal, 1 Senior Consultant, 2 Consultants) for an 8-week deployment alongside two seconded Trust digital staff. Total fee envelope: ~£268k, against a documented committed KPI of ≥60 minutes per clinician per day reclaimed.
7.3 Day rate card
| Grade | Day rate (£) |
|---|---|
| Analyst | 550 |
| Consultant | 750 |
| Senior Consultant | 950 |
| Principal | 1,450 |
| Fractional Executive (CAIO / CTO / COO) | 2,200 |
Rates are fixed for 24 months from framework call-off. Standard framework volume discounting applies at agreed thresholds. Rates are inclusive of UK travel within the deploying Approved Organisation’s region; out-of-region travel charged at cost.
Value framing against the alternatives. BritiAI’s Principal rate of £1,450/day sits roughly 25–35% below Big-4 equivalent rates routinely quoted to NHS Trusts for AI advisory work (commonly £1,900–£2,400/day) and at a premium to undifferentiated boutique specialists (typically £700–£1,100/day). The premium over the boutique band is defended by the embedded model, the named clinical safety posture, and the productised Lot 5 and Lot 6 solutions that any Lot 7 engagement can call on. The discount to the Big-4 band is defended by BritiAI’s lower overhead structure and our deliberate decision to compete on outcome rather than on partnership prestige. The Fractional Executive rate at £2,200/day reflects board-level accountability, in-seat regulatory responsibility, and a long-duration engagement model — not a series of one-day workshops.
7.4 Evidence base
- Fractional executive model is BritiAI’s operating norm, with documented engagements in financial services and public sector. CVs of the named Lot 7 delivery cadre are appended to this submission.
- Beever AI research credibility as the technical backstop for every Lot 7 engagement: ACL 2025 publications, open-source Beever Atlas release, university partnerships at HKUST, Vector Institute, Stanford, University of Waterloo and HKU.
- Votee AI in regulated-sector production: HKMA FSS 3.1 pilot programme; Baidu Innovation Award 2026; former Dean of the Deloitte AI Institute as Chief Scientist.
- Reference letters from existing BritiAI clients demonstrating embedded delivery model effectiveness are available on request under the framework’s commercial-in-confidence provisions.
7.5 Outcome commitments
Lot 7 engagements are inherently advisory and therefore committed outcomes are framed at the programme level rather than the per-solution KPI level.
- AI Readiness Programme: a board-approved AI strategy and a 12-month deployment roadmap, both signed off by the Trust SRO, delivered within the fixed-price 12-week envelope.
- Fractional CAIO: a documented monthly board report against an agreed AI portfolio scorecard, with quarterly review against the Trust’s AI strategy.
- Procurement & Vendor Assurance: a written assurance report delivered within the agreed timeframe, with a defined methodology and a clear recommendation.
- Workforce Enablement: training completion rates and post-training competency assessment results reported to the Trust against an agreed baseline.
- Implementation Pods: the underlying solution KPI (e.g. Scribe-On-Site ≥60 min/clinician/day) committed in writing, available under outcome-linked pricing.
7.6 Information governance and clinical safety
Lot 7 advisory work routinely touches commercially-sensitive Trust strategy and, in the Implementation Pod model, clinical workflow. The BritiAI Lot 7 posture mirrors the Lot 5 and Lot 6 governance posture: UK data residency by default, named Clinical Safety Officer engaged where DCB0129 applies, full DPIA support, NHS DSPT-registered, working toward ISO 27001:2022 certification by Q4 2026 and Cyber Essentials Plus assessment scheduled by 18 June 2026. Fractional Executive engagements are conducted under the standard Trust honorary contract or equivalent governance arrangement.
7.7 Why this answer is different
Sovereign by design. Every Lot 7 engagement is delivered by a UK-based delivery cadre, with no offshoring of advisory work and no transfer of Trust-confidential material outside the UK.
Clinically safe without overclaiming. BritiAI Lot 7 advisory does not opine on clinical decisions and does not blur the line between advisor and clinician. Where an engagement requires clinical safety sign-off, the named BritiAI CSO is engaged from the outset.
Evidence-grade. Every recommendation a BritiAI advisor makes is backed by the Beever research record and the Votee production record. We do not advise on AI in the abstract; we advise on systems we operate.
Embedded, not delivered. The Fractional CAIO is the defining BritiAI advisory product. The Trust gets a senior leader in the seat, not a deck on the page.
Buy-once, deploy-many. A Trust that engages a Fractional CAIO can call off any Lot 5 or Lot 6 productised solution under the same governance relationship, with the Fractional CAIO carrying accountability for the deployment KPI. The Approved Organisation buys leadership once and deploys it across the AI portfolio.
BritiAI is asking for a place on Lot 7 so that NHS Approved Organisations can buy senior AI leadership, independent assurance, and embedded delivery from a single UK supplier — at a defended mid-market premium price, against a published outcome.
